Water Beads Sensory Fun A Quick Guide

Posted by Little Mash on

Looking for a fun way to keep your kids busy? Water beads are a great option! Not only are they fun to play with, but they can also help teach children about colours and counting.

In this quick guide, we cover the five most common questions we get asked about water beads and some fun, creative play ideas. Keep reading to get your questions answered.

1. What are water beads?

No Nasties water beads begin the size of a poppy seed and expand to 150 times the size when added to water. They are non-toxic and encourage children to learn through sensory play, supporting the development of hand-eye coordination.

2. What are water beads made of?

We can't answer for all water beads but our No Nasties water beads are non-toxic, made with a bio-polymer that biodegrades when covered with soil.

3. How do they work?

Pour your little packet of water beads into a large bowl and cover with 5 cups of water and watch them expand over the next 5 or so hours. Insider information - Use warm/hot tap water for faster growth. It's as simple as that. Once they have expanded, drain away any remaining water, and you have a bowl of slippery, colourful, bouncy, ball fun!

4. Can water beads be re-used?

Absolutely! If cared for correctly you can enjoy your water beads many times.

5. What is the best way to store water beads?

Rinse them with a little natural soap, and let them dry out until you are ready to play again. Alternatively, you can rinse them with natural soap and pop them into a glass jar with a little water and seal them with a lid. They look beautiful stored this way.
