Planning a winter birthday party?
Share
While you may have visions of sweet teddy bear picnics in a park and three legged races in the sand, unfortunately winter parties are at the mercy of cold temperatures and unpredictable weather. This can sadly eliminate a lot of options - but the good news is 'fun' doesn't have to be one of them! Choose from the following winter birthday party ideas to make it an unforgettable celebration.
1. LEGO BUILDING
Invite a few friends around to build Lego. Purchase small kits (one for each child) and let them have at it. Prepare a few snacks to keep the kiddos fuelled while they play, and then send them home with their Lego as a party favour and a slice of cake. Very little preparation = my kind of party.
2. DISCO
Don't underestimate the power of a speaker, fairy lights and a couple packets of glow sticks. Cost effective, easy and hours of fun. Have lots of water, finger food and a video camera on hand to capture all the hilarious dance moves. Footage will re-surface at 21st birthdays of course!
3. SLUMBER PARTY + MOVIE NIGHT
You can't go wrong with the timeless slumber party and movie night. Pop a big bowl of popcorn and assemble individual treat packs - easy! It's important to check the movie choice has the OK from the parents too. Be prepared for broken sleep and lots of giggles until the early hours of the morning.
4. INDOOR SPORTS
Hire a local community or school hall and plan an indoor sports day - fashion medals and team bandanas for extra fun.
5. HIRE A PARTY VENUE
In addition to being indoors and away from the weather, party venues are great for when you want to combine a group of people that may not know each other. For example you might invite a few guests from your family, your child's daycare, sports team and neighbourhood kids etc. In my experience, it's a lot easier to plan and have everyone socialise in these environments. Some ideas are:
- Movie Theatre
- Rock Climbing
- Trampoline Park
- Arcade
- Bowling
- Laser Tag
- Go Karts
- Dance Class
